Undergraduate Forms

Forms for Cinema Studies undergraduate courses and scholarships requiring application are posted here for each upcoming academic sesson. The forms are in Word and PDF formats, and can be emailed to the Undergraduate Office or printed out and brought to Room 232AE at Innis College.

 

CIN369H1S - Critical Writing on Film

Wednesdays 4-6pm, Thursdays 4-6pm

This course will use screenings, readings, in-class discussions and exercises, process writing and collaborative editing in order to increase students’ awareness of the history and methodology of film criticism and improve their writing and analytical abilities. Course includes regular film screenings.

Prerequisites: CIN105Y1 - Introduction to Film Study, 1.0 FCE in Cinema Studies

Applicants will be required to provide a short explanation for why they wish to take the course with a word limit of 250 words.

Deadline: Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 9:00 am.

400-Level Seminar Enrolment Form

Majors in Cinema Studies are required to enroll in one 400-Level Seminar to complete their program. Specialists in Cinema Studies are required to enroll in two 400-Level Seminars to complete their program. Before enrolling in a 400-Level Seminar, students must have completed CIN105Y1 - Introduction to Film Study, CIN201Y1 - Film Cultures I, CIN301Y1 - Film Cultures II, and seven additional FCEs.

Deadline: May 30, 2019. Students can still submit an Enrolment Form after the deadline, but there will be no enrolment priority.

Independent Studies in Cinema

CIN490Y1Y; CIN491H1F; CIN492H1S

Independent research projects are devised by students, supervised by Cinema Study faculty, and open to Specialist and Major students in the Cinema Studies program. Students must enlist a Cinema Studies faculty to serve as supervisor, and speak with the Undergraduate Coordiantor before applying.

The deadlines to apply for Independent Studies are:

  • May 1, 2019 for Fall 2019 course
  • November 1, 2019 for Winter 2020 course
  • April 1, 2020 for Summer 2020 course.

Norman Jewison Fellowship in Film Studies

Established in 1985, this $10,000 award recognizes an outstanding University of Toronto student graduating or has graduated within the last year with a Specialist or Major in Cinema Studies, and is proceeding to further study in film and/or related media. For more information about the Fellowship, please visit Awards and Scholarships and read over the application form.
