  Entertainment announced that it would be winding down new productions at 
 animation studio Nelvana, after more than 50 years of production in Canad
 a. Responsible for a wide-variety of significant animated television and f
 ilms, including Care Bears, Inspector Gadget, Franklin, Babar, Little
  Bear, The Magic School Bus, Beetlejuice, Clone High, 6Teen, The Star
  Wars Ewoks & Droids Adventure Hour, and Rock & Rule, to name but a few\
 , the shuttering of Nelvana represents a major blow to the commercial anim
 ation industry in Canada.The University of Toronto's Film Library & Media 
 Archives is home to a number of significant archival collections related t
 o Canadian animation, including the personal collections of a number of N
 elvana principles and artists. This event celebrates the work of three for
 mer Nelvana creatives—Dale Cox, Dave Cox, and Dale Schott. Featuring mat
 erials from the Dale & Dave Cox and Lionsgate Collections, the screening 
 will feature Dave Cox's early pre-Nelvana work in advertising and as an in
 dependent animator, an episode of Inspector Gadget, and more! Organized 
 as part of a SSHRC-funded postdoctoral project at Emily Carr University of
  Art + Design that activates the Film Library & Media Archives' animation 
 holdings, this will be the first in a semi-regular screening series highl
