Our next FFF presents...

🌙 Distant (2006)

A newly unemployed worker, Yusuf, travels to Istanbul to momentarily live with Mahmut, his photographer relative, while searching for a job. However, their differences in class and culture prevent them from getting along; without them realizing their similar aimlessness and inability of expression.

Distant is arguably Turkish auteur Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s masterwork in how it microcosmically underlines the growing sociocultural and economical divide between people in the country; and the cities and the countryside. There is a distinct melancholy in how the slow cinema style immerses you in these characters’ loneliness.

Preceding Distant is a very special screening of Buster Keaton’s hilarious and inventive classic, Sherlock Jr. (1924) on 16mm! The film will be presented with an improvisational live accompaniment by: Adam Babadi, Mika Wall, Evan Wark, Ulis.

Sherlock Jr. FIRST, Distant SECOND. Double Feature starts at 7 pm.
