Remediating Women’s History Across Time, Space, and Embodied Memory is a presentation by Professor Angelica Fenner (A&S Germanic Languages & Literatures and Cinema Studies), a 6-month JHI Faculty Research Fellow in 2024-25. The talk is part of the JHI Alumni Research Lecture Series.
In Fall 2024, Fenner undertook field research revisiting the shooting locations of a 1981 West German film, Claudia von Alemann's Die Reise nach Lyon (English title: Blindspot). This video presents findings from that work, conducted in preparation for a comprehensive volume on the film's significance for both cinema history and women's history, a project also offering an overview of this director's life and filmography, autotheoretical reflections on Fenner's site visits, and textual analysis.
