Biography

Diana Sanchez is the former Senior Director of Film for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). She has been an international programmer at TIFF for over 17 years, championing filmmakers from Spain, Latin America, Portugal and the Caribbean. Diana has worked in many film and cultural organizations, from well established ones to start-ups including the Madrid Film Archive, Rotterdam Film Festival, Miami Film Festival, Houston Latin Wave at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Los Angeles Latino Film Festival (LALIFF) and IFF Panama. As Founding Artistic Director of IFF Panama, Diana has had the chance to build a festival from the ground up. Described by Variety as "one of the world's most quickly consolidating festivals" - IFF Panama provides a launch pad for films from Central America and the Caribbean while bringing the best of Ibero and world cinema to Panamanian screens. A life-long learner and educator, Diana has an MA in Cinema Studies from U of T and completed the Executive Program in Arts and Cultural Management, through U Penn and National Arts Strategy
