Forging Grad Connections: Peer-to-Peer Support between MAs and PhD Students
When and Where
Description
This Thursday the Events Committee invites the community of graduate students at CSI to join an open conversation between MA and PhD students that is designed to help everybody survive the end of the Fall semester while also looking ahead to the future—and to do that while also creating a platform to foster new networks of peer-to-peer dialogue and support. The session will be moderated by Aaisha Salman and will begin by framing a range of issues, challenges, and survival strategies before opening the floor to questions and broader group discussions. Please come share your questions and thoughts while also helping your fellow graduate students in CSI!
Although the event will offer an open floor to students' questions, some of the topics we plan to address include:
- Making the transition from an MA to PhD program
- Building support networks in graduate school
- Managing coursework and research
- Teaching tips and strategies for conducting tutorials
- Familiarizing yourself with mental health support and resources on campus
- Finding a supervisor
