Cinema Studies is a Limited Program of Study that can only accommodate a limited number of students. Students must apply for admission into the Cinema Studies program via ACORN while completing the following program admission requirements.
Enrolment in the Cinema Studies program requires the completion of CIN105Y1 - Introduction to Film Study with a final grade of 70% or higher plus 3.0 Full Course Equivalents (FCEs).
Students who fail to meet the minimum grade of 70% in CIN105Y1 have a second chance by achieving a minimum grade of 70% in CIN201Y1 - Film Cultures I plus 3.0 FCEs. Students must complete CIN105Y1 or equivalent before taking CIN201Y1.
Students transferring from Scarborough Campus (UTSC) who have completed FLMA70H3 - How to Read a Film (formerly ENGB70H3) may skip CIN105Y1, but must achieve a minimum grade of 70% in CIN201Y1 plus 3.0 FCEs in order to gain admission into the Cinema Studies program.
Students transferring from Mississauga Campus (UTM) who have completed CIN101H5 - An Introduction to Cinema Studies may skip CIN105Y1, but must achieve a minimum grade of 70% in CIN201Y1 plus 3.0 FCEs in order to gain admission into the Cinema Studies program.
First Round Period: March 1 - April 26, 2024
Request enrolment in the Cinema Studies program via ACORN starting on March 1, 2024 and by April 26, 2024. Check departmental decision on ACORN between April 27 - June 7, 2024. Accept any invitation into the Cinema Studies program by July 5, 2024.
Be sure to apply for program admission during the First Round in order to gain priority enrolment in Cinema Studies course in July 2024.
Second Round Period: July 6 - August 20, 2024
Request enrolment in the Cinema Studies program via ACORN starting on July 6, 2024 and by August 20, 2024. Check departmental decision on ACORN between August 21 - September 4, 2024. Accept any invitation into the Cinema Studies program by September 16, 2024.
