Biography

Taki Duo Wang is a PhD student in the Cinema Studies Institute. His research interests include media theory, animation and comics, cinema and technological change, and East Asian film and media. He currently focuses on a broad spectrum of nonhuman entities and representations in contemporary media ecology, ranging from onscreen animals to consumers and platforms. Prior to arriving in Toronto, he earned an M.A. from the University of Chicago, where he wrote a thesis on how specific animation technologies at once stage and problematize the association of anthropomorphism and animism.
