Biography

Inesa Khatkovskaya is a PhD candidate at the University of Toronto’s Cinema Studies Institute. She received a Specialist Degree in Cultural Studies from the Belarusian State University (2000) and an MA in Cultural Studies with a specialization in Gender Studies from the European Humanities University (2001). Before becoming a PhD student at the University of Toronto in 2015, Inesa taught film history, film theory, and documentary cinema for the Department of Media at the European Humanities University in Vilnius, Lithuania. Her dissertation project focuses on landscape and spatial imagery in late Soviet Belarusian cinema.
