Description

Looking for a great way to spend Friday nights? Meet us at Innis College to catch a movie!

Free Friday Films are a tradition here at the University of Toronto. Our Cinema Studies Student Union has been putting together awesome bills for over two decades!

This Friday, CINSSU is collaborating with the UofT Student Chapter of AMIA, The Association of Moving Image Archivists for a screening of Dawson City: Frozen Time (2016), the true history of a collection of some 500 films dating from 1910s to 1920s, which were lost for over 50 years until being discovered buried in a sub-arctic swimming pool deep in the Yukon Territory, in Dawson City, located about 350 miles south of the Arctic Circle.

There will be a special introduction by Christina Stewart, a film and media archivist at Media Commons, University of Toronto Libraries. Register and learn more about the event here.

A limited number of walk-in seats will be available.

AMIA @ UofT organizes a variety of professional & social events to raise awareness about moving image preservation.
