Funny Boy screening with Deepa Mehta

On March 25, celebrated filmmaker Deepa Mehta brings her latest feature, Funny Boy, to the Canadian Film Forum. Ann-Marie MacDonald, acclaimed actor, novelist, and playwright, will moderate the discussion that follows.

A moving look at a young man coming of age amid sweeping political strife, Funny Boy follows Arjie from boyhood to his teens in Sri Lanka of the 70s and 80s. As Arjie's and his entire family’s lives are irrevocably impacted by simmering tensions in their country that erupt into civil war, an indelible story about love, identity, and freedom unfolds.
