Join us for a celebration of the publication of Steve Gravestock’s A History of Icelandic Cinema (Wilfred Laurier University Press, 2019) with a book signing and free screening of the Icelandic noir film, A White White Day (Hvítur, Hvítur Dagur, Hlynur Pálmason, 2019, 110 min.).
Gravestock’s pathbreaking history of Icelandic cinema traces the evolution of this unique national cinema from its beginnings in the silent era to the present day, as well as its influence from and interaction with two of Iceland’s most powerful cultural forces: its unusually vital literary tradition and its robust independent music scene.
Book signing at 7:00-7:30 pm.
Free screening at 7:30 pm.
