CSI undergrad directs music videos for The Kills

April 25, 2022 by Denise Ing

During the span of the pandemic, Cinema Studies Specialist program student, Sally Walker-Hudecki has directed and edited two music videos for the English-American rock duo, The Kills.

The first music video was for "Weed Killer" from the band's collection of b-sides and raries, Little Bastards, released in December 2020.

The most recent music video was just released on April 13 for "No Wow" from the forthcoming re-issue of the remixed song.

The two music videos are the end result of Sally's passion project for shooting Super 8 film footage of bands from roughly a decade earlier. After learning to shoot using Super 8 film at the Hart House Film Board, she smuggled her camera into concerts then had the footage developed and scanned at LIFT, Niagara Custom Lab, and later, Frame Discreet.

Sally brought this personal passion project to the attention of The Kills, and the band loved her work. When The Kills were looking for fan footage to accompany the release of Little Bastards, they reached out to Sally for her Super 8 recordings. For the "No Wow" music video, Sally worked and attended school 9:00am to 6:30pm then edited from 7:00pm to 3:30am for a few weeks to meet the band's deadline.

Congratulations, Sally, on having your hard work rewarded and your personal passion project acknowledged!
